At ThriveGP Medical Practice, we provide compassionate, confidential and holistic mental health support for people of all ages. Our GPs work closely with patients, families and allied health providers to support mental wellbeing close to home.

  • Grief and adjustment counselling 
  • Sleep and fatigue assessment 
  • Youth mental health support 
  • Men’s and women’s mental health 
  • Mental health reviews and medication management 
  • Chronic illness and mental wellbeing support 
  • Referrals to psychologists, psychiatrists and community mental health services 
  • Telehealth mental health appointments where appropriate 

Under Medicare’s Better Access initiative, eligible patients can access Medicare-rebated psychology and allied mental health services following a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan. Typically, an initial referral allows up to 6 sessions, with additional sessions available after review. 

Mental Health Referral Pathways in NSW

Our GPs can assist with referrals to a range of NSW mental health services, including:

Psychology & Counselling Referrals

Referral pathways may include:

  • Clinical psychologists 
  • Registered psychologists 
  • Accredited mental health social workers 
  • Occupational therapists 

These services may be accessed privately, through Medicare rebates, or via Primary Health Network (PHN) funded programs. 

Psychiatrist Referrals

Where specialist assessment or medication management is required, patients may be referred to private psychiatrists in:

  • Goulburn 
  • Canberra 
  • Southern NSW 
  • Telepsychiatry services 

Community Mental Health Services

NSW community mental health teams support people with more complex or severe mental health conditions. Referrals can be made by:

  • GPs 
  • Hospitals 
  • Self-referral via NSW Accessline  – 18000 11511

Youth Mental Health Services

Young people aged 12–25 may also be referred to:

  • headspace 
  • school counselling supports 
  • youth-specific psychology services
